The National Park Service and the Maryland Board of Public Works have yet to issue permits for construction of the pipeline crossing the Potomac River and the C&O Canal near Hancock, MD. The pipeline would cross both land owned by the US Park Service and MD DNR. Despite the absence of these permits, Transcanada is requesting permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to begin construction.
Accordingly, the Potomac Riverkeeper Network is asking for support to write to the C&O Canal Park Superintendent to deny the permit application. Please see here for information: https://www.potomacriverkeepernetwork.org/letter-writing-campaign/
